START WITH WHAT YOU CAN SEE
Which Mould or Moisture Problem Are You Seeing?
You do not need to identify the cause before asking for help. Choose the description closest to the concern, then use the guide to explain the location, timing and earlier work. These signs guide an enquiry; they do not diagnose the property.
Mould or moisture around a window
Look at where it appears: on the glass, frame, reveal or adjoining wall. Those positions may lead to different checks, especially if only one window is affected.
Condensation that keeps returning
Describe when glass gets wet and how the room is used. An installed fan does not by itself establish that moisture is being removed effectively.
A wall staying damp between cleaning visits
Explain the material, location and whether the wetness changes. A low mark or an isolated meter reading does not establish one universal cause.
A stain near plumbing or after water use
Keep the room positions and repair history together. Water can become visible away from its source, and a further test should answer a specific remaining question.
Marks that become darker after rain
Compare the inside position with safely accessible outside details. An overflowing gutter and indoor mould can coexist without that alone proving the complete route.
Mould returning after cleaning or treatment
Say what was treated and whether the moisture source was repaired. A repeat visit should help establish what needs to change before the same work is repeated.
What makes your description useful
Have the postcode, property type, affected room and floor level ready. Describe whether the growth is new, returning or unchanged, and mention any water incident or repair. Dated photographs of the same location can show change; wider views help identify which part of the room is involved.
If more than one sign applies, say so. Condensation and a building defect can occur together, and treating visible mould is a different task from repairing incoming water. If water is actively escaping, arrange the appropriate urgent repair response rather than waiting for a mould treatment enquiry.
